Daphne Willis Talks Tattoos, Music, and Mental Health

The world seems a little off the rails right now and we need to look out for ourselves and one another now more than ever. Luckily there are people like Daphne Willis out there helping to shed light on important topics with talent, grace, and intelligence. Watch her cool music video, check out the video below to learn about the meaning behind her charming spoon tattoo. Then while you’re at it download her album and check out one of the many organizations she is affiliated with and maybe lend your own support. The more we reach out and help one another the better. Thanks to Daphne for your meaningful work in the field of mental health and for sharing your thoughts.

Daphne Willis is a singer/songwriter who can’t be boxed into one genre. She crosses Roots-Rock and Pop to Hip Hop and Electronic Dance Music among other genres. Her songs are about real issues, problems, and feelings that people can relate too. Her latest single, “Somebody’s Someone” is about destigmatizing mental illness, addiction, and homelessness. She’s also a huge mental health advocate outside of music.

This isn’t her only work with mental illness though she’s also very involved in NAMI, Campaign To Change Direction, and Persevere. She also participates in “live music painting” where she stands in front of a blank canvas and an artist throws paint at her while listening to one of her songs. Once the art is completed Daphne auctions it off and funds go towards this alternative cancer treatment hospital in Tijuana (C.H.I.P.S.A. The Gerson Therapy Hospital and Advanced Immunotherapy Center For Cancer). She recently just did one with SHAMc.
